Marisa M. Sorce ( She/Her) is a Colorado based artist originally from Upstate New York. Sorce currently works for The Denver Center for the Performing Arts as a Wig Assistant. She started in Fall of 2021 and has been building, styling, and running shows ever since. There she has worked on A Christmas Carol, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woof?, The Color Purple, Quixote Neuvo, Hotter than Egypt and many more. She has also worked on the World Premiers of Rubicon, In the Upper Room, Laughs in Spanish, and Rattlesnake Kate.
Sorce worked at Central City Opera in the Wig and Make-Up department (Madama Butterfly, Billy Budd). She has spent several summers with Bay View Music Festival where she worked as a Costume Designer (Le Nozze di Figaro, Pippin, SOARS Opera Scenes) , Costume Technician (La Cenerentola, Carmen, Joseph and the Amazing...), and was the Costume Shop Manager in 2018. Sorce has also worked with the University of Minnesota doing Costume Crafts (Pippin), Mixed Blood Theatre as an Assistant Costume Designer (Hooded, Gloria), and with the Guthrie Theater constructing facial hair ( Cyrano de Bergerac). She has also participated in the Disney College Program in Orlando, and interned with the Galway International Arts Festival in Ireland. Sorce is currently in the Cosmetology Program at Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver, Colorado. She is a proud graduate of Le Moyne College where she earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts with Minors in Arts Administration and Dance. She spent one year at the University of Minnesota in the Costume Design and Technology Graduate Program where she fell in love with wigs and has been pursing building and styling ever since. When not at work, Sorce can be found at the dog park with her beloved rescue pittie mix Dandie, reading, drawing, traveling, watching documentaries, and playing any Mario game on her switch. |
